About Zéphirine

Tucked away on Rue Abbé de l'Épée in the heart of Bordeaux, Zéphirine Restaurant is the kind of place that instantly feels welcoming the moment you arrive. I like introducing this restaurant to anyone searching for a relaxed dining experience with a touch of French charm because it balances comfort and quality so naturally. The atmosphere is casual yet refined, making it ideal for both slow lunches and lively evening meals with friends. Thanks to its outdoor seating, guests can enjoy the vibrant streets of Bordeaux while sipping a glass of wine or sharing cocktails on warmer days. At the same time, the dine-in experience inside feels intimate and polished without being overly formal.

What makes Zéphirine stand out even more is its thoughtful selection of food and drinks. The menu caters to different tastes, which is always a plus when dining with a group. You will notice healthy dishes sitting comfortably beside richer French-inspired plates, while vegetarian options make the restaurant accessible to a wider crowd. I also appreciate how the beverage selection adds to the overall experience rather than simply supporting the meal. From local wines and refreshing beers to carefully prepared cocktails and premium spirits, there is always something that pairs beautifully with the food. Even coffee lovers are not forgotten, which makes lingering after dinner feel completely natural.

Another thing I enjoy mentioning about Zéphirine is how easygoing the entire experience feels. There is no pressure to rush through your meal, and the restaurant seems designed for people who genuinely enjoy dining out. Whether someone stops by for a relaxed lunch outdoors or an evening filled with wine and conversation, the setting encourages guests to settle in and enjoy themselves. Since there is no delivery service, the focus stays entirely on the in-person experience, and honestly, that feels like part of the restaurant’s charm.

A truly exceptional restaurant. Family owned business with incredibly warm and friendly service. The restaurant offers a lot of gourmet condiments, jams, pates, sauces, etc. to be bought on the premises. The food is absolutely divine and served beautifully. Even the baguette is taken up a level. It's served with delicious salty butter in a gorgeous vintage serving dish. Merci beaucoup team Zephirine!

Went to this restaurant while visiting Bordeaux at the recommendation of a friend and it did not disappoint. As mentioned by several posts, it is a family run restaurant that we found to be very welcoming and non-pretentious, just great service and fantastic food. We opted for a multiple course menu of the day dinner that included one of the best duck you’ll ever have, paired with a great local wine recommended by the server. Highly recommended this restaurant. Make sure to make reservations

Honestly one of the best restaurants in Bordeaux… The fantastic treatment from the very beginning, the knowledge about the product and professionalism of the waiters, the atmosphere inside the dining hall, the absolutely tasty and good looking food (from the bread to the final coffee) made the experience 100% worthy and pleasant. Every dish was superb, you can tell they do it with passion. Elegant, delicious and local. It is such a massive joy to see places like this still exist! Thank you very much, now I know where to go when visiting Bordeaux in the future. PD. They also sell a lot of local products that looked truly amazing, protect this place at all costs!!!

I pass by Zéphirine almost every day and have always been curious—it’s open from morning to night and always smells amazing. Since I don’t understand French, I never knew what the menu board said. Last night, we finally tried it, and it was such a wonderful surprise! Everything was made with fresh, local ingredients. The atmosphere was warm and friendly—you could see the happiness on everyone’s faces, including ours. The bread was great, and the asparagus and salad were unexpectedly delicious. Their pickled vegetables added amazing texture and flavor. I had the margie (fish), and it was fresh, juicy, and paired with a buttery sauce—I wish I could have it every day. The veggies were perfectly roasted but still juicy. Dessert was lovely too—no complaints at all. Highly recommend! It’s a cozy, feel-good place that really feels like home.

Delicious food and friendly service. We opted for the tasting menu which consisted of multiple dishes. The selections weren't what we usually gravitated to when ordering À la carte, but we are glad we did. They were a combination of traditional French staples and some newer dishes with a distinct French twist. The love and care from the Chef could be tasted in each dish. We highly recommend.

We discovered this place on our last day in Bordeaux and really wish we had on our first. The best food, with the concept of sharing starters being brilliant so we could try everything, which was amazing, and then a main course of lamb that was out of this world, it was the best food we've had in the city. Incredible food at excellent value with a team of lovely people. Cannot speak highly enough, and cannot wait to return.
